LEAGUE FOOTBALLERS OF 1950 — RUCKMEN by Percy Taylor

Argus 22 April 1950 p.3 The Argus Weekend Magazine

BERT LUCAS, captain of South Melbourne last year, was that team's best follower. He had strength and pace, and showed plenty of determination. Bert had a few games with Carlton, and later went to Sandringham before signing up with South Melbourne in 1946. He wanted to go to Western Australia last year, but his club would not grant him a clearance.
