LEAGUE FOOTBALLERS OF 1950-FULL BACKS Percy Taylor

Argus 6-May-1950 P7

FEW PLAYERS have had such a successful first sea- son as that experienced by BRUCE MORRISON at Geelong. Like so many players in that team, Bruce came from far away, as he was recruited from Bairnsdale. His practice form in 1948 was so spectacular that he went immediately into the senior side in the important full back job. He played in every game-19 and had the honour of winning the club's best and fairest trophy in that -his first season.

Last year Bruce did not shape quite so well, but he is still a grand player. He has a fine sense of anticipation, is a grand high mark, and a good lick, and has that pertinacity and determination that are essential in any player who is to succeed in his job of checking full forwards. He is smaller than most full backs, being 5ft. 11in., and only 12st. 21b. In his two years Bruce has played in 32 games.
