LEAGUE FOOTBALLERS OF 1950 - -WING HALF - FORWARDS By PERCY TAYLOR

Argus 8-Jul-1950 p12 The Argus Week-End Magazine

DICK WEAR MOUTH, originally a wingman, has been sent by Footscray to the half forward, wing in the hope that he will fill a position that is undoubtedly difficult. Dick came from Rupanyup with his family, and came up to the seniors the hard way-through the seconds. In one year he won the Gardiner medal - the seconds' equivalent of the Brownlow Medal -and helped his side to the premiership. His first senior game was in 1944, and he had completed 53 games when the season ended last year.

Dick is a left-footer with remark- able speed to the ball, and is a good mark. But he would be a better player if his kicking were on a par with his other attributes. After working as a clerk for some time, he is now employed on the wharf. He is married, with one child, and lives at Flemington. In the summer he relaxes, and has re- fused various offers from trainers who think he would do well as a runner.
