Comment

'J. Garbutt played last year with Ararat, but returned to the red and blues in the middle of the season. 'Perry' plays on the centre half-back position and is noted for 'Dick Lee' leaps, and his 'long drops'— is also noted for 'shadowing' — he sticks like glue to his opponent. Has won several foot races. 'Perry's' pater played with the Ports in the nineties.' (Record- Emerald Hill,1926)2

GARBUTT: 'Joe' has had a most Successful season and played in every match. Much depends on this player as custodian of the uprights. His long kicks and magnificent ' marking make him prominent throughout the game. 'Joe' is a good tip for the drop-kick competition. (Record- Emerald Hill,1928)3
