KEITH DRINAN, who is the newly appointed vice captain of St. Kilda, has been a consistently good centre half-back. It is fairly obvious that the committee is looking ahead in giving Drinan the job, as Fred Green, present captain, is not likely to play for many more seasons.
The new vice-captain should be able to hold down the job, if education helps, as he attended the recent conferring of degrees at the Melbourne University, where he became a Bachelor of Science.
Coming from Elwood, beginning with the last match in 1946, Keith has played 30 games, and has always been a defender. He had a bad time in 1948, as he seemed to get a succession of injuries, but last year did really well. He is not exceptionally tall, being just 6ft. and 12_ stone, but is rarely beaten.
His chief assets are his extra- ordinary anticipation, a grand spring which compensates for his comparative lack, of inches-and length and direction in his kicking
Keith rarely misses attending social activities of the club. He is single, and lives with his family in Elwood. His younger brother, Jack, played a few senior games, but transferred to Port Melbourne in 1949.
