LEAGUE FOOTBALLERS OF 1950 - WING MEN -Percy Taylor

Argus 10-Jun 1950 p7 Weekend Magazine

LEO TURNER, of Geelong, is one of the best wing men in the State. Although only 22 years, he was good enough to represent Victoria in a match against New South Wales last year. There must be a wealth of talent in the Geelong district, because Leo was recruited from an under 19 years' competition. His first League game was in 1947, and his tally to the end of last season was 46 games.

Leo is a left-footer, and at 5ft. 11 in., is taller than most wing men. That gives him- a great advantage in the air, and he makes good use of it. He has lots of pace, and is more a straight-ahead type of player than the twisting and turning type.

Single and a salesman, he lives with his people at Belmont. In the summer he plays cricket in the senior competition. He -is a left-hand bowler and a right-hand batsman, with many good performances to his credit. He is also a better-than-average tennis player, and, at school, was an excellent runner-in fact, a really good all-round sportsman.
