Melbourne City played in the VFA in 1912 and 1913. The club was added to the VFA in the inner-city presence.On 1 December 1913, Melbourne City formally resigned from the Association, and disbanded as a club
"Some three months ago a meeting of those interested in the formation of a club, to take the place of the defunct. West Melbourne club, was held to elect a committee to make representations to the Victorian association for admittance into that association. After due consideration, the new club, which is . called the CityFootball Club. was admitted into the Victorian association." Age -Jan 19121
