See main article Reference_ 1944 VFL R06 Richmond v Footscray and St Kilda v Essendon - The D-Day Draws
(Taylor listed at FF in Friday team lists, AFL Tables has Randall in the team instead)
James Taylor (our trusty Richmond Maven) notes:
The only help I can offer is that in the preview of Rd #7 team selections it is stated that Randall is one of four players dropped for the game. He was named as an emergency. (Age 16.6.1944 p4 c7 and Argus 16.6.44 p12 c4)
As Laurie Taylor was in the 2nd AIF during the war, I would suggest that he was unexpectedly made not available and Randall was elevated to the team in his place.
