Round: 1 Venue: Punt Rd Date: Sat, 19-Apr-1947
Richmond 18 27 (135)
North Melbourne 15 14 (104)
From 1933-43,45 Pannam played 181 games for Collingwood. He was the clubs leading goal-kicker in 1941,42 and 43 and Collingwood Captain in 1945. During the war he also played football for the RAAF.
In 1946 he captain/coached Richmond's Seconds team to a premiership and continued with the seconds until 1952. Pannam later coached Richmond from 1953-55. He coached Oakleigh to their VFA premiership in 1960.
In 1947 Richmond finished the Home and away season in fourth place, but they were rarely in the final four all season. Richmond’s win against South Melbourne in round 19 put them in the final four for only the second week all season, taking the place of Collingwood who had lost their final two games of the season.
Fitzroy knocked Richmond out in the Semi Final, but it was Carlton and Essendon who fought out the Grand Final where Carlton won by a single point.
A Second Photo from the same session is probably taken by a different photographer. The players in both photos are looking at either one of the two photographers (eg Alby Pannam). This points to a likelyhood of two simultaneous photos rather than one photographer moving and taking a second shot. This second photo is also taken at a low angle and shooting up. This is in contrast to Boyles straight on style.

Comment
During his time at Richmond, Pannam played 2 Senior games, Round's One and Two in 1947, and only one of those was a home game. As this is a senior Team, Pannam's presence identifies the match.http://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/1947/121419470419.html

Identification work
Seven players; Jack Turner, Les Jones, Ron Durham, Frank Bourke, Bob Wiggins, Ron Evans and Kevin Colls have been identified by James Taylor who has rigorously reviewed a number of Richmond photos.Further Work Needed
This photo is not stamped as a Boyles photo, nor is the negative in the NSM or SLV collections, but the photo is most likely by Boyles. It is the right style, right time period and the right size.A Second Photo from the same session is probably taken by a different photographer.
