Introduction
The League Sub District Competition was essentially a third tier competition behind the VFL and VFA. The competition was discussed by the VFL before the First World War and appears to have been instigated in 1916. The sub-District League ended at the end of the 1949 season and a new league, the 'Metropolitan League' was created by the VFL in it's place. Also known as the 'Melbourne Districts Association'
