Further Work Needed

This match was difficult to identify, as this group of players never played together as part of a regular season VFL match. Kenvin Crohan only played one senior game (Round 1 1942), and the other players did not match those who played in that match.

The players do match a patriotic match against Fitzroy prior to the start of the season. The large crowd, and the inclusion of Cosgrove in uniform backs this up. In other versions of this photo a large RAAF sign can also be seen above the players.

Duplicates - Near Identical Photos

Two identical NSM negatives are of the same shot, though the crowd is slightly different. Note the sailor on the right of the photo. Camera location is identical meaning this is likely to be another shot by Boyles rather than a second photographer.
